The Oyo State Hospitals’ Management Board (OYSHMB) has partnered with JAFAD College of Nursing Science, Oru-Ijebu, Ogun State, to facilitate the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and internship training for nursing students of the institution.
The collaboration was formalized during a strategic meeting held at the office of the OYSHMB Chairman, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, at the Oyo State Secretariat in Ibadan.
In his remarks, Dr. Fagbemi expressed satisfaction with the initiative, stating that the Board was pleased to support the development of future healthcare professionals. He emphasized that the partnership aligns with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde to deliver sustainable healthcare through human capital development.
He noted that the OYSHMB currently supervises 59 secondary healthcare facilities across the state, ensuring accessible, qualitative, and affordable health services to the people of Oyo State.
The Chairman urged the college to consistently produce excellent students and provide proper orientation before they begin their clinical placements. He assured the JAFAD delegation that their students would be well mentored and exposed to real-world healthcare environments under the Board’s guidance.
Responding, the Acting Provost of JAFAD College of Nursing Science, Mrs. Olufunmilola Akintayo, appreciated the warm reception and commended the Makinde administration’s investments in health infrastructure across the state. She reaffirmed that the college is fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
She assured the Board that all students participating in the programme would comply strictly with its operational guidelines and ethics.
Also speaking, the Director of Nursing Services (Clinical), Mrs. Eyitayo Ayoola, praised Dr. Fagbemi’s leadership and described the partnership as a significant step toward grooming competent healthcare professionals in Oyo State.
Other dignitaries present at the meeting included the Director of Administration and Supplies at OYSHMB, Mr. Adewale Lawal; the Registrar of JAFAD College, Mr. Adewale Lawal; and Mrs. Baoku Oluwatobi, Licensing Officer of the college. improved clinical exposure and education standards
