The Oyo State government has officially unveiled the leadership, jersey, and logo of its pioneering female football team, Pacesetter Queens Football Club, in a ceremony held at the Ministry of Youths and Sports Secretariat, Ibadan.

The unveiling was led by the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, who described the initiative as a major step towards revitalizing female football in the state.

“This development aims to reawaken the vision, realign our values, and rebrand the identity of the female football team. We are committed to shaping the future of women’s football in Oyo State,” Commissioner Adegoke said during the press conference.

She further commended the stakeholders who collaborated with the ministry in establishing the team and urged the new leadership to build a strong foundation for the club. “I charge the newly appointed officials to ensure that the foundation they lay will stand the test of time,” she added.

On the criteria for selecting the team’s leadership, Miss Adegoke explained, “The leadership was chosen based on experience, potential, and a shared commitment to nurturing talent, strengthening club operations, and elevating the women’s game.”

Head Coach Akinwumi Obajinmi, who spoke during the event, pledged to foster a competitive and committed squad. “I am honored to be entrusted as the pioneer leader of the Pacesetter Queens. We will build a team that is confident, competitive, and truly embodies the spirit of Oyo State,” Obajinmi said.

He also expressed his readiness to collaborate with coaches, staff, players, and fans, stating, “Together, we will work hard to raise the profile of female football in the state.”

The newly appointed leadership team comprises:

First Assistant Coach: Damilola Olaitan Badmus

Second Assistant Coach: Zaccheaus Aderoju

Physical Trainer: Lateef Lukman

FIFA-badged Goalkeeper Trainer: Foluso Ajayi

Welfare Officer: Miss Grace Towobola

The unveiling event drew notable football stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, Oba James Odeniran, former international star Mutiu Adepoju, and senior officials from the Ministry of Youths and Sports.
