SWAN Honors Hon. Stanley Olajide Odidiomo for Sports Development Achievements
…As Hon. Odidiomo Urges Journalists on Upholding Ethics, Truth in Reporting
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State Chapter, has presented an award to Hon. Stanley Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo Honourable Representing Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency, in recognition of his Outstanding contributions to the development of sports at the grassroots.
The Award was in honor of his immense contribution to Sports and was recognized at the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter’s Symposium held at NUJ press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
According to the Chairman of SWAN, Oyo State Chapter, Ayomiku Ajibola noted that Hon. Olajide’s award is a testament to the association’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence in sports development.
He assured that the association will continue to work with stakeholders like Hon. Stanley Olajide to promote sports development and empower young people in the state.
Ajibola praised Olajide’s commitment to sports development and empowering young athletes and providing them with opportunities to excel in their chosen sports.
In his remarks, Honourable Representing Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency, Hon. Stanley Olajide popularly known as Odidiomo, expressed his gratitude to Oyo SWAN for the award, stating that it was a great honor to be recognized by the association.
He also took the opportunity to charge journalists to stand on the ethics of journalism and continue to speak the truth to those in authority.
Hon. Olajide emphasized the importance of a free press in a democratic society, noting that journalists play a critical role in holding leaders accountable for their actions.
He urged Sports Writer Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, to remain committed to the principles of truth and fairness, even in the face of challenges and intimidation.
The Award and Symposium event was Bi- Monthly event to educate Sports Journalist in Oyo State on accurate reportage and to recognize personalities that has contributed to development of Sports in the state.
