Ondo Guber: CDS Reassures Stakeholders Peaceful, Neutral, Professional Security For Ondo State Election

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has assured stakeholders, including the electorate, that security agencies deployed for Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State would be neutral and professional in their engagement.
Musa stated this in Akure, the Ondo state capital, on Thursday during a meeting with the heads of security agencies ahead of the November 16 governorship election.
The CDS, who said that he was in the state on the directives of President Bola Tinubu to know the synergy put in place by security agencies, charged security forces to be professional in discharging their duties.
He noted that the directives from the president were for the state to be adequately secured so as to enable the electorate to exercise their franchise on election day in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.
Musa, who commended the security forces for their conduct in the last Edo State governorship election, charged them to reciprocate it in Ondo State.
According to him, “As security agencies, we are working together as a team, and Ondo State has been a very peaceful place. We want to sustain that and ensure that this is the best election in Ondo State.
“I want to appeal to all Nigerians, especially the good people of Ondo State; they should all come out en-masse to vote for whom they want.
“Nobody will intimidate the electorate, and security forces are working like a team.We are one family of Nigerians.
“Our own job is to make sure that we provide an enabling environment for the election to take place, and we are going to do that.
“We are going to remain committed and impartial in all we do; we are not going to take sides because we want a free, fair, and credible election.”
He appealed to all heads of security agencies, particularly in the state, to monitor their men deployed for the election so they not derail from the mandate of the election.
“So, don’t allow anybody to make us look stupid, and let us put our best for the sake of the country and Ondo State at large,” he said.
