Legal luminary Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN has expressed reservations about the effectiveness of rotational presidency, citing the center’s overwhelming influence.

Reacting to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s suggestion of a six-year term and rotational presidency across geopolitical zones, Ayorinde emphasized the need for policies to reduce the center’s attractiveness.

Ayorinde’s proposal aims to promote fairness and representation across regions. However, he notes that the current system’s centralization of power may undermine the benefits of rotation.

Ayorinde further advocated for streamlining the Supreme Court’s workload by filtering out less critical cases, preserving its role as a policy court. This reform would enhance the judiciary’s efficiency and effectiveness.

He also urged the Judiciary to rebrand itself, recognizing its vital role in nation-building which would involve restoring public trust and confidence in the judicial system
