If All Progressives Congress, APC, leaders from Okeogun 1 geo-political zone are unable to present a consensus candidate among the four persons jostling to succeed Akin Oke as chairman, delegates would be made to decide.

The party, after two postponements, had rescheduled the congress for Saturday 30th October, 2021.

National Daily news understands that the party’s advisory council led by former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala had, among other positions, zoned the chairmanship of party to the zone.

While other zones have concluded on their choices, only the zone has not been able to select successfully.

At the stakeholders’ meeting convened Thursday ahead of Saturday’s congress, members from the four local government areas – Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa and Kajola, were asked to present one of Abu Gbadamosi, Ajiboye Omodewu, Dele Akinleye and Abolade before 11 am tomorrow.

If they fail to choose successfully, zonal leaders of the party will come together to decide who leads the party. There were also disagreements on the choice of the leaders to decide who gets it among the quartet.

Sources at the meeting who spoke with this newspaper expressed doubt about the ability of the leaders to choose one among the four. “They will likely come to stadium on Saturday and delegates will decide for them,” another source added.
