Makinde’s Aides, Odukoya, OYHA Lawmakers, Babalola, Oyekola, Adebisi, Others to Take Part in 3rd Edition of Journalist Olawale Ogunbusola School Competition & Awards November 7
The third edition of the Journalist Olawale Ogunbusola School Competition & Awards will hold on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, with over 150 attendees expected.
Organized annually by respected broadcast journalist Olawale Ogunbusola, FEIPA, the event aims to evaluate young children’s cognitive development through quiz competitions in English, Mathematics, Current Affairs, and General Knowledge, as well as educational lectures and awards for outstanding personalities.
This year’s event features two Oyo State Governor’s aides: Executive Assistant on Security, Rtd CP Sunday Odukoya, who will deliver a lecture titled “Towards Improving Schools Security in Oyo State,” and Reverend Dr. Femi Ibikunle, who will serve as the official chairman.
Other speakers include Dean, Faculty of Environmental Management and Design, LeadCity University, Ibadan, Professor Grace Oloukoi, who will deliver the keynote lecture “Adjustments to Climate Changes,” and CEO, Oyiza Orphanage Home, Mrs. Idris Taiwo Joy, who will speak on “Effects of Teenage Pregnancy in Any Society.”
Special guests include Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Samson Olawale Babalola; Chief Whip, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola; Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Yusuf Oladeni Adebisi; CEO, Young Artist ArtHub, UK-Nigeria, Mrs. Olaide Moyet-Turner; Curator, National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, Mrs. Oriyomi Pamela Otuka; CEO, Bright Lens Media Network & Iseya TV, Mrs. Ayodeni Aluko; and TVC News Camera Reporter, Mr. Adewale Ojedokun.
Ten junior and senior schools, approved by the Oyo State Government through its Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, will participate in the competition.
The event will hold from 8 am to 1 pm, with honourable gifts, certificates of participation to the best three students from both JSS 3 and SS2, and awards presentation to seventeen (17) most merited personalities in the society.
The anchors of the competition event are Head of News, Solutions 93.9FM, Oladapo Okunnubi “Young Striker”; Head of Programmes, Olusina Olabode “Omoyashina”; and Registrar, Eccolerite Institute for Peace Advancement, Dr. Omotayo Adegunju.
During the first press conference, Convener Journalist Olawale Ogunbusola, FEIPA, appreciated organizers, sponsors, and media partners, stating that the event is “divinely built towards touching lives with his resources, annually.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is a pleasure to state here that the essence of the competition, which is ‘competence, confidence, and exposure,’ is becoming achievable. Thus, it is a huge testimony that since I officially launched the initiative in 2022, it has served as a life speed to myself, participated students, and awarded individuals.”
