The 2 Division Nigerian Army has announced its 2024 second schedule of Range Classification Exercise which aims to refresh troops’ skills in weapon handling and enhance proficiency for effective military operations.
The event which will take place from August 26 to September 20, 2024, at Major General Azinta Shooting Range, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan.
The announcement was made by Lieutenant Colonel Polycarp Okoye, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 2 Division Nigerian Army.
According to the statement the exercise is a bi-annual routine observed at all levels of Nigerian Army units and formations across the country and its primary objective is to assess and improve troops’ weapon handling skills, ensuring they are combat-ready.
The statement further stated that the exercise will also evaluate troops’ training and preparedness for battle and other assigned military duties.
It advised Communities surrounding Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment not to panic upon hearing gunfire during the exercise period.
The statement warned Farmers and hunters to avoid the Range area throughout the exercise to ensure their safety.
It urged the public to comply with the notice to avoid any potential risks or disruptions during the exercise.
