OYRTMA Refutes Assault Allegations, Emphasizes Dedication to Service
The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has debunked a viral video circulating on social media that falsely claims one of its officers assaulted members of the public.
The Executive Chairman, Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd), addressed the issue, while clarifying that the individual in the viral video was not an OYRTMA officer, as evidenced by the different uniform. OYRTMA officers wear a tan (khaki) shirt over maroon trousers, whereas the person in the video wore maroon attire from head to toe.
Adekoya emphasized the need for the public to disregard these baseless rumors and instead focus on OYRTMA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing road safety and reducing traffic congestion.
He expressed concern that the spread of such false information could damage the agency’s hard-earned reputation as a model of efficient traffic management.
He stated, “The Oyo State Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has been the target of a malicious rumor circulating on social media, falsely alleging that its members assaulted the public.
“This unfounded claim has caused unnecessary panic and misinformation.
“However, after a thorough investigation, we have found these allegations to be entirely false.
“The OYRTMA has consistently shown dedication to serving the public with professionalism and respect.”
Major Adekoya highlighted the agency’s numerous initiatives designed to improve road safety and ensure the free flow of traffic.
“These initiatives include innovative traffic management systems and community outreach programs aimed at educating the public on road safety practices.
He noted that these efforts have significantly reduced traffic congestion and improved overall road safety, earning OYRTMA praise from residents and visitors alike.
“The agency’s personnel are trained to prioritize the safety and well-being of all road users, consistently demonstrating a high level of discipline and restraint in their duties.
“The OYRTMA’s commitment to excellence has earned it a reputation as one of the most efficient and effective traffic management agencies in the country,” Adekoya added.
He urged the public to support the OYRTMA and the administration led by Governor Seyi Makinde in their efforts to maintain free traffic flow and enhance road safety across Oyo State.
“Together, we can build a safer and more efficient transportation system for everyone,” he concluded.
Adekoya reaffirmed that the agency’s professionalism and dedication to service reflect the government’s commitment to valuing the public and providing effective services.
He called on the community to continue supporting OYRTMA’s endeavors to create a more secure and streamlined transportation network in the state.
