Oyo Government Organizes Solidarity Walk in Commemoration of 2021 World Sight Day.

Oyo state government, on Friday, organized a solidarity walk for the visually challenged persons in commemoration of this year’s World Sight Day.

The solidarity walk which took off from the University of Ibadan 1st gate ended at Samonda in the brown roof city.

While speaking on behalf of the state government shortly after the walk, the executive adviser to the Oyo state governor on persons living with disabilities, Barrister Ayodele Adekanbi, said the walk was aimed at creating awareness about eye-health and eye-relate issues.

Adekanbi, who used the occasion to orientate the public on the guide cane usually seen with the visually impaired, appealed to commercial drivers and other road users to oblige the physically challenged persons the chance to cross the road safely without been hurt.

2021 World Sight Day, with the theme, Love your Eyes, is an international day of awareness held every October to focus attention on the global issue of eye health.
