LG: OYSIEC Mobilises 15,000 Security Personnel for Election, 40,000 Adhoc Staff
The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) on Thursday said 15,000 security personnel has been engaged to ensure security of lives and properties during Saturday’s local government poll in the state.
The security personnel according to OYSIEC Chairman, Barr. Isiaka Olagunju comprises of men of Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) and Oyo State Anti Corruption Agency (OYACA) among others.
Speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, Olagunju urged residents of the state to come out and vote for their choice at the poll, saying their votes will surely be count.
He maintained that the Commission has roburst collaboration with security agencies in the state to ensure free, fair, and credible poll.
He said, “15,000 security personnel will be involved in Saturday’s election based on numbers of our polling units.
“Restrictions on Saturday will start by 6am and end 4pm in the evening, election will start by 8am and end by 3pm in the evening.
“Distribution of non sensitive election material has started since Monday, and we have also begin distribution of sensitive materials since yesterday.”
He however thank the governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his support and creating a level playing ground for both the voters and all political parties in the state.
