Makinde calls on residents for synergy to curb malaria

The Oyo State Government has charged people of the state to play their roles in accelerating fight against spread of malaria.

Commissioner for health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, gave the charge during commemoration of 2024 World Malaria day, themed “Accelerating the fight against Malaria for a more equitable world” held at Molete Primary Healthcare facility.

Dr. Ajetunmobi said to reduce malaria burden, commitment must be translated into action by ensuring equitable access to malaria control, engaging communities and accountable for result.

She charged people not to allow gender, poverty and other challenges to rob them their well-being, advised them to embrace government interventions programs and judiciously use preventive measures availed to them.

Earlier in his remark, representative of world health organization, Philip Azonto, said clean environment and proper usage of preventive and control measures, could compliment government effort against malaria.

Other stakeholders include USAID, top government functionaries who also spoken, enjoined people to imbibe the act of engaging experts for proper treatment of malaria and other ailments.

Highlight of the event include symbolic presentation of insecticide-treated bed nets to participants especially pregnant women.
