JONAPWD Exco lampoons APC member’s ‘Disabled Comment on Oyo Government.
The Chairman of the Joint National Association of persons with Disabilities, Oyo State Chapter has condemned the remarks credited to an APC member with disability who was reported by an online publication to have spoken against certain policies and structures of the Oyo State government.
In a swift reaction to the said online publication, the Chairman of the Joint National Association of persons with Disabilities in the state dissociated the Exco and the entire Association from the slanted report, saying that at no point did they speak in unison against policies and structures of the present government.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step and Rome was not built in a day” he said.
He opined that if Governor Seyi Makinde could, against all odds, make good his promise of establishing an Agency for persons with disabilities as well as creating an office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Disability matters in Oyo State, he will no doubt accede to the requests of persons with disabilities through the Agency.
He said although the programme organized by Centre for Disability and Inclusion Africa on Friday, 26 January examined the level of Inclusion and Accessibility in the state, it was not meant to run down the government.
