Succour: Mrs Makinde doles out cash gifts, food items to SAPDAN
Wife of the Oyo state Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde has donated cash gifts and food items for Strong and Able Persons with Disability Association of Nigeria (SAPDAN) to empower the members of the association to cater for themselves and their family.
Mrs Makinde who made the donation through her foundation, (Omituntun For Life Foundation) at the 7th year anniversary of the association, held at the Prince Place Event center Memorial hall, Oke-Sunnah Saki, Oyo state.
Mrs Makinde admonished the association not to be discouraged or to undermine themselves noting that they should not allow anyone to trample upon their rights because of their physical condition but to stand up for their rights when it needed because there is ability in disability.
She however, urged members of the association that have learned one vocational skill to improve on the skills they have learnt and allow the challenges confronting spur them to do better themselves.
Mrs Makinde supported the association with a bag of rice, a sum of Fifty thousand naira for each members of the association.
She stated that “I am happy to be here with you as the mother of the day at the 7th anniversary of the Strong and Able persons with Disability Association of Nigeria(SAPDAN).
“I am here today under the umbrella of the Omituntutn for Life Foundation to encourage and empower the members of SAPDAN, Saki Chapter.
“Physical disability comes in different forms. No matter the form of disability you have, do not be discouraged or feel less about yourself.
“You are an important part of the society, so do not allow anyone to trample upon your rights because of your physical condition.
“According to a popular saying, there is ability in disability.
“Hence, let your voices be heard wherever you find yourselves in the society.
“I am happy to know that most of you have learnt one skill or the other such as barbing, phone repair etc. which is a source of livelihood for you.
“So I want to admonish you to improve on the skills you have learnt and let the challenges you are facing at the moment inspire you to do better for yourselves.
“The Omituntun for Life Foundation under my leadership will be supporting fifty (50) members of the Strong and Able Persons with Disability Association of Nigeria (SAPDAN), Saki Chapter with a bag of rice and a sum of Fifty thousand Naira (N50,000) each.
“The cash gift and the food item are to empower the members of SAPDAN, so they can take care of themselves and their family members.
“As per your solicitation, ensure to use the cash gift for your business and family.
Once again, congratulations to you all on the 7th year anniversary of your association and pray that your association will continue to record great success, she said.
