Adeoye to Speak on Youth Leadership at ABU Conference

A leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Laja Adeoye, is set to speak as a keynote presenter at the upcoming International Virtual Conference organised by the African Union Students’ Club.

The conference, hosted at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (WAT). It is themed “Global Peace and African Development in a Multipolar World Order.”

According to the convener, Ahmad Shuaibu Isa, the event will bring together students, academics, policymakers, and international participants to examine Africa’s role in an evolving global system.

Adeoye will deliver a keynote address on “Youth Leadership, Governance, and Africa’s Pathway to Sustainable Development,” where he is expected to highlight the role of young people in shaping the continent’s future.

Also slated to speak is former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, who will present the first keynote at the event.

Adeoye, an entrepreneur and president of the Laja Adeoye Foundation, is known for his advocacy in youth empowerment through education, entrepreneurship, and civic participation. His address is expected to reflect these priorities while drawing connections to his policy vision for Lagos State.

Key areas of his presentation will include strengthening youth inclusion in governance, expanding access to quality education and digital skills, promoting entrepreneurship to tackle unemployment, and advancing transparency and accountability in leadership.

He is also expected to emphasise the importance of leveraging private sector innovation and people-centred policies to drive inclusive development in urban centres.

“Youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they must be active architects of today’s development agenda,” Adeoye has consistently stated in previous engagements.

Political observers say his participation in the student-led conference underscores his growing influence in governance discourse and his engagement with young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election.

The organisers described Adeoye’s participation as a boost to the conference, citing his leadership experience and commitment to youth development.
