Ogundoyin Storms Oyo town, Unveils ‘IGBEGA OYO Omituntun 3.0’ as Stakeholders Rally Behind Governorship Bid
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has intensified consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election, taking his campaign to Oyo Federal Constituency where he formally declared his ambition and sought grassroots backing from party leaders and stakeholders.
The high-level stakeholders’ meeting, held in Oyo town, brought together influential figures and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful from across Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East, and Oyo West Local Government Areas.
The gathering marked a significant step in Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin’s strategic outreach across key political blocs in the state.
The Oyo stakeholders were led by a prominent member of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu, alongside party leader Chief Sunday Ogunlade.
Addressing the gathering, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin formally declared his intention to contest the governorship election and appealed for the support of party members and stakeholders in Oyo town.
He emphasized the need for continuity, inclusive governance, and accelerated development across all zones of the state.
A major highlight of the meeting was the formal presentation of his development blueprint, tagged IGBEGA OYO Omituntun 3.0 Roadmap.
The policy document outlines his vision for governance, focusing on economic expansion, infrastructure development, education, and grassroots empowerment.
The roadmap is positioned as a continuation and expansion of ongoing reforms under the current administration, while introducing new strategies aimed at sustaining long-term growth.
Some leaders of the PDP from Ibarapaland, including the Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon.Yemi Taiwo, and Alh. Majekodunmi Aborode who accompanied the Speaker to Oyo town underscored the depth of Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin’s legislative experience, describing it as both extensive and impactful.
They pointed to his years of active participation in lawmaking, policy formulation, and constituency representation as evidence of a leader who understands the mechanics of governance from the ground up.
Several PDP leaders from Oyo Federal Constituency took turns to speak, expressing varying degrees of support and urging party unity ahead of the forthcoming political cycle.
Among them were a member of Oyo State Advisory Council, Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu, PDP leaders in Oyo town Chief Sunday Ogunlade, and Alh. Sulaiman Ajepe acknowledged the importance of consultations and engagement with grassroots stakeholders.
Senator Monsurat Sunmonu noted that the sustained stability within the Oyo State House of Assembly since 2019 stands as a clear testament to the Speaker’s capacity for inclusive leadership and institutional management.
She observed that, in a political environment often marked by friction, the Assembly under his stewardship has remained cohesive, productive, and focused on legislative responsibilities that directly impact governance and development.
She added that the Speaker’s exposure at the national level, particularly in his role as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers, has significantly broadened his governance perspective.
Chief Sunday Ogunlade, in his remarks, described the Speaker as a young and vibrant person who has gained enough maturity, administrative skill, and legislative experience.
