Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his commitment and that of his political structure to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that the party remains the platform for all electoral contests ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Governor made this known on Monday during an ongoing high-level stakeholdersโ€™ meeting held at the State Secretariat, where party leaders, elected officials, and key stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the political roadmap for the coming election cycle.

Speaking at the meeting, Makinde assured party faithful that all aspirants seeking elective positions in 2027 would contest under the PDP, putting to rest speculations about possible defections or alternative platforms.

He further revealed that the party would adopt a consensus-based approach in the selection of candidates, emphasizing unity and internal cohesion as critical to sustaining the PDPโ€™s dominance in the state.

In a move aimed at rewarding loyalty and performance, the Governor also announced that all first-term lawmakers currently serving at both the National Assembly and the Oyo State House of Assembly would be returned unopposed, signaling confidence in their representation and contributions.

The meeting is expected to shape strategic decisions that will define the PDPโ€™s direction and strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 polls.
