Fuel Price Hike: Makinde Approves ₦10,000 Palliative for Oyo Workers

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has announced a temporary financial relief package aimed at easing the burden of rising living costs on public workers.

Governor Makinde who approved a flat-rate palliative of ₦10,000 for all state workers, including local government employees.

The measure is set to run for an initial period of three months, beginning in April 2026.

The governor made the announcement during the Youth Empowerment Agribusiness Programme (YEAP) Safer Disbursement Ceremony and Stakeholders’ Engagement held at the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub in Oyo.

According to Makinde, the intervention is part of efforts by the state government to cushion the effects of economic hardship triggered by the recent increase in petroleum product prices.

He further noted that the palliative could be extended beyond the initial three-month period, depending on the prevailing economic situation.
