Aleshinloye Tasks Federal Institutions on Fair Representation

…Reaffirms commitment to fairness, justice, and Federal Character principles

The Federal Character Commissioner in Oyo State, Prince Ayodeji Abass Aleshinloye, has emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the Federal Character mandate, stressing that it remains essential for promoting fairness, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all Nigerians.

This was stated by Adegoke Oladiipo Oyeyemi, Media Officer to the Federal Character Commissioner, Oyo State.

Speaking during a working visit to key federal institutions in Oyo State, the commissioner reiterated the need for transparency and equity in recruitment and staff distribution across government establishments.

The visit, which covered the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, and the Federal College of Agriculture, was aimed at assessing compliance with the Federal Character principle, particularly in recruitment processes and representation at all levels.

Prince Aleshinloye commended the management of the institutions for their contributions to national development, especially in advancing agricultural research, training, and innovation.

He, however, urged them to sustain efforts in maintaining balanced representation and fairness in their operations.

The commissioner also reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Character Commission, under the leadership of Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, to promoting equity and justice in public service, adding that such monitoring visits would continue to ensure accountability.

Responding, the Acting Provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Dr. Chidi Okpeze, described the visit as timely and commendable, noting that it reflects the Commission’s dedication to fostering fairness and national unity in federal institutions.

Similarly, the Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Prof. Jeremiah Atungwu, expressed appreciation for the visit, affirming that the institution remains aligned with Federal Character principles.

He assured that the college operates a transparent system that guarantees inclusiveness and equal opportunities.

Also speaking, the Executive Director of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Prof. Gabriel Oluwatosin, welcomed the delegation and commended the Commission’s efforts in promoting equity and national cohesion.

The Registrar of the institution further praised the leadership of the Commission and the Oyo State Commissioner for ensuring compliance with the Federal Character principle across federal establishments.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Character Commission to strengthen adherence to its mandate nationwide.
