Olubadan Calls for Massive Recruitment of Oyo State Youths into Police

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has called on eligible indigenes of Oyo State to take advantage of the ongoing police constable recruitment exercise and enlist in the Nigeria Police Force.
Ladoja made the call on Tuesday in Ibadan while receiving DIG Tunde Lakanu, Chairman of All Police Matters and representative of the South-West in the Police Service Commission.
The monarch stressed that the responsibilities of law enforcement agents are too critical for society to ignore, noting that beyond apprehending offenders, the police play a vital role in maintaining law and order.
He added that although his jurisdiction as Olubadan covers 11 local government areas in Ibadanland, he would liaise with members of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs to ensure the message reaches all parts of the state.
Ladoja also pledged the support of the Olubadan Advisory Council, traditional chiefs, Baales, Mogajis and Iyalodes in mobilising youths to participate in the recruitment exercise.
He further highlighted the importance of the media in sensitising the public, urging sustained collaboration with print, electronic and social media platforms to create awareness.
Earlier, Lakanu disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force is currently recruiting 50,000 constables nationwide, urging all geo-political zones to actively participate.
He, however, expressed concern over the low turnout of applicants from the South-West region and appealed to traditional rulers to help drive awareness at the grassroots level.
Lakanu, who was accompanied by senior police officers, also hinted at the proposed introduction of state policing in Nigeria, noting that it would significantly enhance security when implemented.
Members of the Olubadan Advisory Council, including Oba Kola Adegbola, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Oba Hamidu Ajibade and Oba Adebayo Akande, were present at the meeting alongside other palace officials.
