Police Rescue Four Kidnapped Passengers Along Igbeti–Kishi Road

Oyo State Police Command has rescued four passengers who were abducted by suspected gunmen along the Igbeti–Kishi Road in Oyo State.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka through a statement to National Daily News revealed that victims were reportedly kidnapped in the early hours of March 5, 2026, when armed hoodlums emerged from a nearby bush and blocked the road, intercepting a commercial bus travelling from Igbeti to Kishi.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Ayanlade Olayinka, the attackers forcefully took four passengers into the surrounding bush during the incident.

He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, immediately ordered a coordinated rescue operation after receiving the report.

“The Divisional Police Officers of Igbeti and Kishi divisions, alongside tactical teams, were directed to mobilise all operational resources to ensure the safe rescue of the victims,” he said.

A joint security team comprising police operatives, the Western Nigeria Security Network, Operation Burst and other local security stakeholders subsequently launched an intensive bush-combing operation in the area.

The sustained search of the surrounding forests reportedly mounted pressure on the criminals, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee.

Police said the four passengers were rescued unharmed and have since reunited with their families.

Haruna commended the bravery and professionalism of the security personnel involved in the operation, noting that cooperation among security agencies remains key to protecting lives and property across the state.

The command also appreciated the support of the Oyo State Government led by Seyi Makinde for providing resources to support security operations.

It also acknowledged the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, in the ongoing fight against crime nationwide.

The police added that security operatives have intensified intelligence-driven operations and bush-combing efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies to aid ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.
