Alado Palace Denies Plans to Confer Chieftaincy Titles on Fulani Individuals

The Palace of the Alado of Ado-Awaye has dismissed reports alleging plans to confer chieftaincy titles on ten Fulani individuals in the community.

The denial was contained in a press statement issued by the Media Office of His Royal Majesty, Oba Rev’d Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi, the Alado of Ado-Awaye.

According to the statement, the palace acknowledged the concerns raised by youths and indigenes of Ado-Awaye, noting that their interest reflects a collective desire for the peace and development of the community.

The palace clarified that there are no plans to confer chieftaincy titles on Fulani individuals. It explained that in 2017, Oba Olugbile Folakanmi approved the appointment of four Seriki Fulani to collaborate with the Alado-in-Council in addressing farmer–Fulani conflicts, a move aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence in Ado-Awaye.

The statement further revealed that the palace had previously permitted the Miyetti Allah Fulani Association to inaugurate its administrative bodies after notifying relevant security agencies. However, the process was later suspended due to rising tensions.

Reaffirming its position, the palace stressed that the Alado remains fully committed to maintaining peace and security within Ado-Awaye and its environs and would not compromise this commitment under any circumstances.
