Oyo@50: Oyo State Conducts Free Medical Outreach in All LGAs

…Planning committee monitors statewide medical outreach

The Oyo State Government has conducted a free medical outreach across the thirty-three local government areas of the state as part of activities marking the Oyo @ 50 celebration, aimed at improving life expectancy and boosting productivity among residents.

The Chairman of the Oyo @ 50 Celebration Planning Committee, Hon. Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, stated this while leading members of the committee on a statewide monitoring of the exercise.

Hon. Akinade-Fijabi said the state government remains committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all residents, particularly the elderly, young people, pregnant women and persons living with disabilities, noting that good health is critical to productivity and socio-economic development.

He called on residents to cooperate with government efforts and to prioritise their health in the interest of peace and overall progress of the state.

Also speaking, a member of the planning committee and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Mrs Bosede Sodiq, commended residents for their massive turnout and support for the outreach.

Mrs Sodiq described the initiative as a way for Governor Seyi Makinde to give back to society, having benefitted from similar social welfare programmes in his early years, noting that today’s beneficiaries could become future leaders of the state and the nation.

She added that the medical outreach covered several facilities within the Ibadan zone, including the Primary Health Care Centres at Basorun, Oje-Lafara and Oranyan, among others.

The free medical outreach is one of the key programmes lined up to ensure that the Oyo @ 50 celebration delivers lasting impact beyond festivities.
