Nigerian Air Force Recovers Unmanned Aircraft After Loss of Signal During Operation

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) recovered an unmanned aerial vehicle following a loss of signal during a routine mission on Friday.

In a statement issued on Friday, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF spokesman, revealed that the UAV was deployed within the Operation Fasan Yamma Sector 3 area when contact was lost.

Ejodame said all efforts to restore the link were unsuccessful, prompting the crew to initiate emergency return-to-base procedures in line with established protocols.

He said the NAF immediately activated coordinated response and recovery measures in collaboration with sister services and relevant authorities.

“The platform has since been contained, with assessment and recovery activities progressing as planned,” he stated.

According to the NAF, technical teams have secured the UAV and commenced preliminary evaluations in line with safety and operational procedures.

Ejodame said there was no loss of life and that operational activities across all theatres continue uninterrupted.

The NAF assured the public of its professionalism and operational focus, adding that counter-insurgency operations are proceeding unabated in the interest of national security.
