Oyo NUJ Secures Google Training for Members, February 2026

Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, are set to benefit from a Google-sponsored training programme scheduled for February 2026.

The Chairman of the council, Comrade Akeem Abas, made this known on Tuesday evening while addressing members at the 2025 Christmas Carol Service and Nine Lessons organised by the union.
The event held at the Dapo Aderogba Hall of the NUJ Millennium Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, and attracted journalists from various chapels across the state.

Comrade Abas disclosed that the Google training would come immediately after the Artificial Intelligence (AI) training earlier scheduled for January 2026.

He noted that the series of capacity-building programmes was part of efforts by the new leadership to reposition journalists in the state for emerging global media trends.

According to him, the trainings would further equip members with modern digital skills and enhance professionalism in news gathering, content creation and dissemination.

The NUJ chairman expressed optimism that journalists in Oyo State would demonstrate higher levels of competence and ethical practice in the new year as a result of the initiatives.

He also assured members of improved welfare packages in 2026, stressing that the leadership was committed to ensuring that no member would be left behind in the council’s programmes and benefits.
