Xmas Party: Makinde’s Wife Urges Women to Embrace Giving, Unity as Christmas Nears

The First Lady of Oyo State, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, has called on women to embrace the spirit of giving and unity as the Christmas season approaches.
The first Lady who was represented by the wife of the deputy Governor, Mrs Ajibike Lawal, made the call during the 2025 Oyo State Christmas Women’s Party, held at the Office of the Wife of the Governor, Agodi, Ibadan, where foodstuffs were distributed to women from across the state.
Addressing the gathering, the First Lady described the Christmas season as a period that reminds humanity of God’s unconditional love demonstrated through the birth of Jesus Christ.
She noted that the festive period also provides an opportunity to reflect on the blessings and achievements of the outgoing year while looking forward to new opportunities ahead.
“Christmas is a time to celebrate God’s infinite love. It is also a season to acknowledge our achievements and look forward to greater possibilities,” Mrs. Makinde said.
She highlighted the significance of the event, stressing that it was not only a celebration of the season but also a tribute to the strength, resilience, and beauty of womanhood.
The First Lady urged women in Oyo State to continue supporting one another, building bonds, and working collectively toward a brighter future for themselves and future generations.
She encouraged women to use the season to share ideas, foster unity, and uplift one another.
“As women, we have the power to nurture and uplift others,” she said. “I encourage each of us to embrace the spirit of giving, because in giving, we reveal the true essence of Christmas.”
She called on women to reach out to those in need, spread kindness, and make a positive impact in their communities.
Earlier in her remarks, The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Toyin Balogun reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to promoting policies and programmed that enhance the well-being, safety, economic independence, and dignity of women.
She assured attendees that under the present government that the administration would continue to champion the rights and development of women, ensuring that no women is left behind.
The event featured interactions among women, sharing of experiences, and distribution of food items aimed at supporting families during the festive season.
The event was attended by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Chief Mrs Ajibola Lawal, female commissioners, wives of local government chairmen, various women groups, and members of the press.
