I Won’t Support Wike’s Expulsion, Says Gov. Fintiri

…As PDP Convention Chairman says expulsion will deepen party crisis, calls for unity and reconciliation

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National planning Committee for the Convention and Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has dissociated himself from calls to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the PDP.

In a statement released on today, Saturday on his X handle, Governor Fintiri made it clear that he does not align with any position advocating the removal of the FCT Minister from the party, stressing that such a move would be detrimental to the PDP’s already fragile unity.

“I wish to categorically state that I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Gov. Wike, from the PDP,” he said. “I believe that this decision is not in the best interest of the party, and I will not be party to any attempt that could further plunge the PDP into unending crisis.”

Fintiri, who reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, stressed that peace and stability must take precedence over internal conflicts.

“As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP, and I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration. Peace and reconciliation are the only ways forward for our great party,” he added.

The governor urged party stakeholders nationwide to intensify efforts toward healing divisions and fostering unity, describing cohesion as essential for the party’s progress.

“As a party man, I am committed to supporting efforts that promote peace, stability, and progress within the PDP,” he stated.

Governor Fintiri reiterated that his stance is driven by his desire for reconciliation within the party, pledging continued commitment to strengthening unity.
