Olubadan Set to Elevate Senior Chiefs in Ibadanland On Friday
…As Five monarchs to move up the hierarchy as Oba Ladoja presides over promotion ceremony
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, is set to promote five members of the Olubadan-in-Council on Friday, in a ceremony that will take place at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
The promotion exercise, which is expected to attract dignitaries from various walks of life, will commence at 10:00 a.m. and will affect only the 21 chiefs on the Otun Olubadan line, the same line that produced the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
According to a statement signed by the Media Aide to the Olubadan, Mr. Adeola Oloko, the most senior chiefs will be the first to be elevated.
The Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole, will be promoted to Otun Olubadan; Asipa Olubadan, Chief Kola-Daisi, will become Osi Olubadan; while Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, moves up to Asipa Olubadan.
Similarly, Oba Muritala Adebayo Akande, the erstwhile Ekarun Olubadan, will be promoted to Ekerin Olubadan.
Chief Kola Babalola, SAN, currently the Abese Olubadan, will be promoted to Ekarun Olubadan, thereby joining the elite Olubadan-in-Council as a member.
The promotion exercise will follow the traditional process of knocking and formal expression of interest by those affected.
As the prescribed and consenting authority over all chieftaincy matters in Ibadanland, the Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, is expected to preside over the ceremony, which will be performed by the Oluwo of Ibadanland.
The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, along with other notable monarchs, will also grace the occasion.
