Makinde Charges New Oyo PDP Executives to Deliver 2027 Victory

…As Over 4,000 delegates elect new team as party sets early strategy for next general election

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has called on the newly elected executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to gear up for total victory in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the PDP state congress held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Ibadan, the governor emphasized that the goal is not just to win elections, but to maintain the party’s dominance and deliver good governance at all levels.

“The work has just begun,” Makinde said as he addressed party faithful at the event.

“This congress is not an end it’s a beginning. We must come together to ensure that from the presidency to the smallest local office, the PDP wins and delivers.”

He further expressed hope that the party’s efforts will not be in vain, assuring members that the dividends of democracy will reach every corner of the state under his leadership.

The atmosphere at the congress was both festive and focused, with delegates arriving from across Oyo State to participate in the party’s internal elections.

A total of 4,050 delegates cast their votes in what many described as a peaceful and well-organized process.

Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Senator Austin Akobundu, praised the delegates for their conduct and reminded them that the congress was a critical step in preparing for the 2027 general elections. “Let this process be a reminder, 2027 starts now,” he told them.

At the end of the day, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro was re-elected as the State Chairman of the PDP.

In his acceptance speech, Ogungbenro promised to build on the successes of the past and lead the party with focus and unity.

“Our mission is clear. We must remain united, disciplined, and result-oriented. We will consolidate the achievements of Governor Makinde and position our party for greater success,” he said.

Other elected officials include Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke as Deputy Chairman and Joel Oyelami as State Secretary.

Mrs. Toyin Olawunmi was elected as the Women Leader, while Kazeem Bello emerged as Youth Leader.

With new leadership now in place, the Oyo PDP appears to be setting its sights firmly on the future and 2027 is already in view.
