An Open Appeal to The National Leadership Of Our Great Party PDP- Amb. Adedipe Dauda EwenlaSouthwest PDP Ex-Officio

As a committed member of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I feel duty-bound to raise a matter of urgent importance regarding the recently concluded Ward and Local Government Congresses in Lagos State.

For weeks now, our members and the general public have been waiting for the official publication of the elected and consensus list of executives from the Lagos Congress and the subsequent appeal exercise.

Unfortunately, the delay in releasing these lists has created uncertainty, unnecessary tension, and room for damaging speculations.

I appeal to the National Working Committee (NWC), and especially the Zonal Leadership of the Southeast overseeing the process, to protect the integrity of the Congress by refraining from altering or tampering with the outcomes that were freely and lawfully agreed upon at both the Ward and Local Government levels in Lagos State.

The problems that hindered our party in the last general elections where we recorded only about 62,000 votes in the 2023 governorship election, the lowest in our history were largely due to excessive interference from the National level in the affairs of Lagos PDP.

Rather than empowering the State structure, some at the National level imposed candidates and controlled the processes in a way that alienated many genuine grassroots leaders.

This painful episode, particularly the imposition of the governorship ticket, weakened internal cohesion and demoralised our faithful members who had laboured for years to build the party in Lagos.

The question many of us are asking is simple:

What is happening to the results of the Lagos wards and Local government Congress and why are the names of the executives yet to be released to the public

Transparency in publishing the results will not only strengthen trust in the leadership but will also motivate members to continue their hard work ahead of the next elections.

I have also observed that some individuals whose names appeared on the sub-committee list for the National Convention are no longer members of our party, while many committed and tireless members who have been serving the party faithfully were omitted.

I humbly request that the National Leadership consult the legitimate leaders of each Local Government in Lagos State to rectify these anomalies so that the list truly reflects our current and loyal membership.

The survival and growth of PDP in Lagos depend on unity, justice, and respect for due process.

Any further interference or alteration of the duly elected or consensus list from the Lagos Congress will only deepen division and discourage the loyal grassroots members who have sacrificed for the party.

I therefore beg the National Leadership of PDP not to change, tamper with, or substitute any names in the Ward and Local Government Congress lists that were duly elected or agreed upon by consensus.

The only amendment we seek is the removal of those who are no longer in our party and the inclusion of committed members who were wrongly excluded.

I make this appeal not for personal gain but in the best interest of our great party, PDP, in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.

Together, we can rebuild trust, strengthen our structures, and ensure a stronger PDP in future elections.
