The recent attack in Kogi State that claimed the lives of three police officers and two vigilante members is yet another painful reminder of the collapse of security under the APC-led government. It is disturbing that while innocent Nigerians are dying daily, the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside the Inspector-General of Police, the Nigerian Army, and the DSS, continues to focus its energy on silencing critics like Omoyele Sowore and other citizens who dare to speak truth to power.

The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property. Sadly, this has been consistently neglected. Under less than three years of Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria has witnessed an alarming escalation in violent crimes, banditry, terrorism, and kidnappings. According to independent monitoring reports, hundreds of Nigerians are killed or abducted monthly, with little or no accountability from those in power. Families are grieving daily, communities are being destroyed, and law enforcement officers—who should be properly equipped and supported—are being slaughtered in the line of duty.

The failure of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in Kogi State to provide adequate security at the local level, combined with the incompetence of the Tinubu administration at the federal level, exposes the insincerity of the APC government. Instead of strengthening intelligence gathering, empowering the armed forces, and investing in modern security architecture, the government spends its time chasing political opponents and clamping down on freedom of expression.

It must be stated clearly: Tinubu must not return to Aso Rock in 2027. Nigerians cannot afford four more years of bloodshed, economic collapse, and authoritarian distractions. The APC has shown that it has neither the will nor the capacity to secure this nation.

Only the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has the experience, structure, and vision to rescue Nigeria from this avoidable tragedy. The PDP has a history of stabilizing Nigeria’s democracy, fostering economic growth, and ensuring that institutions serve the people rather than suppress them. It is time for Nigerians to unite behind a government that prioritizes their safety and future.

The time for excuses is over. The lives of our people matter more than the political ambitions of a failing ruling class.
