Comrade Martins Bags Southwest Nigeria Outstanding Leadership Award in Ibadan

…He dedicates award to renewed commitment towards service and labour advocacy

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State Council, Comrade Kayode Martins, has been honoured with the Southwest Nigeria Outstanding Leadership Award by an international organisation.

The award was presented during the Southwest Awards 2025 ceremony, organised in partnership with the SouthWest Nigeria Excellence Awards held in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

The event recognised individuals across the region who have made invaluable contributions in their respective fields.

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Comrade Martins expressed gratitude to the organisers and described the recognition as a call to greater service.

Earlier in his welcome address, the award ceremony organiser, Mr. Ani Olawale, represented by Dr. Marian Akran, said the event aims to celebrate excellence and inspire more impactful leadership.

The keynote speaker, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Ekehuan Campus, Professor Buniyamin Ayinde, emphasized the importance of embracing alternative medicine in modern healthcare practice.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Oore of Otun Ekiti, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Oyo State chapter, Comrade Raji Oladimeji, and Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Hakeem Shittu.
