Olaoluwa Bags University of Ibadan/Special Education Service Award
The Atayese of Fiditi and President, Peter Olaoluwa Foundation, (POF), Olaoluwa Peter Abidemi, popularly called OPA, has received the Prestigious University of Ibadan/FCE (Special), Oyo Special Education Service Award.
He was bestowed the special award of honour at an event put together by the National Association of Special Education Students, UI/FCES, held at FCES, Oyo.
In his brief remark of acceptance, Olaoluwa, a governorship aspirant in Oyo State for 2027 election, commended the institution for finding him worthy for the award, adding that he would remain committed to service to humanity.
OPA stated that it is important for all to give priority to the welfare and improved quality of life for people living with one form of disability or another for them to be fully integrated into the society.
He said that special people also deserve the life and all rights and privileges of other members of society without being discriminated against.
He said: “It is humbling and heartwarming experience and a true privilege to be bestowed with such award of service and commitment and assured you all that i will continue to be your mouth piece for better life.
“I want to thank the Institution for finding me worthy amongst many Nigerians for such Prestigious Award. This is truly an honour.
“This had made me to be more determined to do more for my brothers and sisters with one form of ability or other because there is nothing like disabilty. From this day, part of my advocacy and commitment will be to remind our people that they are bold, capable, and empowered to live a good life like everybody.
“They only need to remember that the power is already available and theirs for the taking. There is always ability in disability.
“At all times, we must allow the optimism of our will to trump the pessimism of our intellect. You may get into a room and think that it’s too big. However, the moment you take a step, you will discover that the room is actually small enough for you to take over.”
It would also be recalled that Olaoluwa Peter Abidemi on September 3rd, 2024 donated a set of traditional drums to the department of Theatre Arts, FCES, Oyo owning to the request made to him by the department.
Olaoluwa, a Chartered Accountant turned politician was honoured at the event alongside other prominent Nigerians which included Onifiditi of Fiditi, Oba Sakiru Adekola Oyewole Oyelere, the Director General Oyo State Agency for people living with disabilities, Chairman, Afijio local government, Hon Femi Aikomo among others.
