…As Prince Adedipe Ewenla reflects on 28 years of service, honors founding leaders and fallen comrades

It was a moment of celebration and reflection today at Oodua House, Ezekiel Street, Ikeja, Lagos, as members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) gathered to mark two significant milestones: the first anniversary of Oodua House and the 31st anniversary of the OPC.

Among the attendees was Prince Ambassador (Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, who also commemorated his 28th year of active membership in the organization. A prominent figure within the OPC, Ewenla has risen through the ranks over nearly three decades, holding various key leadership roles.

Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Ewenla expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and strength throughout the years.

“Many days have passed, yet I am still standing. I give thanks for the grace to remain strong,” he said.

Dr. Ewenla extended his heartfelt appreciation to Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, for his continuous trust and leadership. He also paid tribute to the OPC’s late founder, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, describing him as a visionary whose legacy remains deeply cherished.

He further honored the memories of several late leaders and mentors who played vital roles in his OPC journey, including:

Mr. Sunday Adeleke and Chief Idowu Bello (Former LGA Chairmen)

Mr. Adejare, Mr. Sunday Falola, and Mr. Ayodele Emmanuel (Former Coordinators)

Chief Okuta (Former Zonal Commander)

Chief Shaibu Adenekan (Popularly known as “Baba Oodua”)

All other departed members of his zone.

“May your souls continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen,” he prayed.

Ewenla also acknowledged the unwavering support from members of the OPC, particularly in the Alimosho and Agbado Oke-Odo Local Government Areas. He commended members of the Makinde Zone and Abule Egba Zone 1 (formerly Lion Zone) for their unity and loyalty over the years.

The Oodua People’s Congress was founded on August 29, 1994, in Lagos by a group of Yoruba nationalists and leaders, including:

In closing, Dr. Adedipe Dauda Ewenla offered a heartfelt thanksgiving.
