A Day Retreat: Dr. Fagbemi Charges Oyo Hospital Heads to Aim for Global Healthcare Standards

The Chairman Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Akin Fagbemi has urged hospital heads to continuously strive towards elevating the state’s healthcare standard to match those of advance nations.
Dr. Fagbemi stated this while having a strategic meeting with all heads of hospital under its jurisdiction at Ring Road State Hospital (RRSH) Ibadan.
The meeting which is aimed to review past achievements, assess the current state of healthcare delivery, and strategize for upcoming challenges within the state’s health sector, which is widely regarded as a pacesetter in Nigeria.
In his address, Dr. Fagbemi commended the administration of Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde for its significant strides in transforming the state’s healthcare system.
He highlighted key initiatives including the recruitment of medical personnel, staff promotions, the elevation of certain facilities to Semi-autonomous status, and the recently concluded Omi-Tuntun Free Health Mission that reached all 33 local government areas.
Der. Fagbemi called on the heads of the facilities for enhanced cooperation between hospital staff and the zonal Permanent.
In her remarks, The Permanent Secretary of the board, Dr. Anifat Ibraheem expressed gratitude to the hospital heads for their dedication and commitment to advancing healthcare services across Oyo State.
Key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the new E-Prescription system for managing drug prescriptions and stock control, dubbed “The ADIGUN Approach.”
The innovation was introduced by pharmacist Salaudeen Abdulazeez of General Hospital, Igbo-Ora, aimed at improving efficiency in patient medication management.
The meeting was attended by The Chairman of OYSHMB Dr. Akin Fagbemi, The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Anifat Ibraheem, all eight Zonal Permanent Secretaries, directors of the board, hospital heads, and administrators.
