…Mrs Makinde to Inspire Hundreds of Heads Girls from Secondary Schools Across Ibadan

Oyo State First Lady, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, is set to deliver the keynote address at the 2nd Ibadan Head Girl Conference on March 6th, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

The one-day conference will bring together hundreds of Head Girls in secondary schools across the 11 LGAs in Ibadan, inspiring women leaders, female teacher leaders and Ministry of Education Officials to discuss challenges and opportunities in girls’ education under the theme: “Fund Girls Education; Accelerate Her Future.”

The Ibadan Head Girl Conference 2025 is a life-on-life impact platform that allows inspiring women leaders to mentor aspiring teenage leaders in secondary schools and help them become better leaders.

FAME recognizes that girls need role models to help them become their best selves. Research has found positive female role models are essential for girls to grow into confident women, especially as they choose college majors and career paths that are needed in today’s world.

Distinguished Guests and speakers at the event include Her Excellency, The First Lady of Oyo State, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde; the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, the Founder of the Vale College, Mrs Funso Adegbola; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Oyo State, Mrs. Bamidele Oyinloye; and General Manager of Dominion Television, Mrs. Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa. Also speaking is Dr. Alero Adegbolagun, The Principal Medical Officer, University Health Service, University of Ibadan, and the Principal of St Anne’s School, Dr. Olasunmbo Savage.

Raphael Stephen, the Founder and Executive Director of the FAME Foundation, emphasized that through this conference, we can help prepare aspiring secondary school leaders to tackle their future with knowledge, understanding, confidence, and imagination. We will also be advocating for accelerated action on funding for Girls’ education, which can strengthen economies and reduce inequality.”

In nearly a decade, the FAME Lead Project has impacted 3,074 aspiring leaders directly and 36,680 aspiring leaders indirectly from nearly 100 schools, trained and equipped them with leadership skills allowing them to become better leaders, take on greater leadership opportunities, and influence thousands of leaders positively in their communities.

FAME believes that by deliberate investing in secondary school students, we can improve the public secondary education system and contribute to ending our leadership crisis in our lifetime.

FAME has built a record of accomplishment for nearly a decade by delivering high-quality leadership programmes to secondary school students across Nigeria and recently hit a major milestone of over 40,000 students reached at the end of the 2024 year.
