Bodija Explosion: Victim’s Plight Worsens as Govt Fails to Deliver Support

Victims of the devastating Bodija explosion are still waiting for the Oyo State Government to fulfill its promise of support, four weeks after the Ministry of Information announced that disbursement would be done within two weeks.

The explosion, which occurred last year, left many residents injured and homeless.

Despite the government’s assurances, the victims are yet to receive any support, sparking concerns about the government’s commitment to their welfare.

“We are still waiting for the government to fulfill its promises,” said one of the victims, who wished to remain anonymous. “We need support to rebuild our lives, but it seems like the government has forgotten us.”

The Oyo State Government has been contacted for comment, but has yet to respond.

The government had inaugurated a 10-member committee to manage and disburse the Bodija Explosion Relief Fund, chaired by the Deputy Governor.

The victims’ families are urging the government to take immediate action to address their plight. “We cannot afford to wait any longer,” said a spokesperson for the victims’ families. “We need the government’s support to rebuild our lives.”
