The South West Governors’ Forum has passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, applauding his efforts in maintaining economic stability and improvements across the nation.

This endorsement was made during a meeting of the forum, where the governors acknowledged the president’s achievements in ensuring a sustained supply and distribution of petroleum products and stabilizing the exchange rate.

In addition to commending the president, the forum also issued a communique praising the successful implementation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

This initiative has greatly benefited students in the region, and the governors urged all eligible students to take advantage of the program to further their education and skills development.

The governors also addressed the issue of emerging security threats in the region.

To enhance security coordination across the South West, they resolved to establish a Joint Surveillance and Monitoring Team.

This move demonstrates their commitment to taking decisive actions to ensure the safety and stability of their communities.

Furthermore, the forum tackled the problem of inflated food prices caused by unscrupulous middlemen in the supply chain.

To combat this issue, they agreed to create a State Food Inflation Joint Monitoring Team and establish Aggregation Centres and Food Hubs.

The South West Governors’ Forum also expressed appreciation for the Federal Government’s creation of the South West Development Commission (SWDC), with its headquarters located at Cocoa House in Ibadan.

The governors have full confidence in Odu’a Investment Company Limited’s management of regional assets.

In another development, the forum urged the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission to strengthen its collaboration with the Commissioners for Agriculture in the region.

This partnership aims to boost industrialization and infrastructure development in the South West.

The meeting of the South West Governors’ Forum was chaired by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who reiterated the forum’s dedication to promoting peace, security, and economic growth in the region.
