… As Gov Promises to Clear All Pension Arrears by May 28, 2027

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State Council has reiterated their support for the present administration in the state stating that Governor Makinde has been committed to their welfare which has make retirement attractive to the state workers.

This was stated by the Secretary of Oyo State Union of Pensioners (NUP), Comrade Olusegun Abatan during appreciation rally for Governor Seyi Makinde over his goodwill towards the pensioners in the state.

In his address, The Secretary to Oyo State Union of Pensioners, Comrade Olusegun Abatan commended Governor Makinde for his kindness and humanity towards pensioners noting that before Makinde’s administration, pensioners in the state were treated with disdain, with their gratuities and pensions withheld or paid in instalments.

He revealed that during the past administrations, pensioners were earning as low as N350 to N1,000 per month.

Comrade Abatan further praised Governor Makinde for his sentivity to the plight of the pensioners in Oyo state saying that since his inception of his administration he has committed to the increment of minimum wage of the pensioners and directed rhat all pension increases since 2007 be factored into the pensions of affected pensioners.

The pensioners’ leader commended Governor Makinde for his commitment to to their welfare, stating that his actions have made retirement attractive to Oyo State workers.

Comrade Abatan also noted that the Governor’s promise to clear all arrears of Pensions on or before May 28,2027, has given pensioners hope for a better future.

Comrade Abatan praised Governor Makinde’s achievements in Oyo State, including the massive construction of roads, the reinstatement of workers and pensioners who were wrongly removed from the payroll, and the recent appointment of workers and teachers.

The pensioners’ leader also acknowledged Governor Makinde’s kindness in enrolling them on the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency platform, which has improved their access to health-care.

He further stated that the Nigeria Union of Pensioners has electoral value and will continue to support leaders who priotize their welfare.

Comrade Abatan, however, praised Governor Makinde for resurrecting the “dead bones” of Pensioners in the state and making them live as human beings.

In his remarks, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, represented by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Adebayo Lawal, said that the solidarity rally by the pensioners in the state is unprecedented in history of the state which has never happened in the state.

He noted that the pensioners have paid their dues while in service and they must be rewarded by promptness to their pension, assured that the present administration would continue to pay pensioners entitlement and dues as at when due.

Makinde expressed that the present government and the pensioners are in collaboration noting that the government would continue to seek for pensioners advise to ensure the welfare of pensioners in the state is taken care of all the time.

He assured Pensioners that the present government is ready to grant whatever requests of Pensioners consider it done.

The Governor promised that before 28th, of May 2027 the present administration would pay all pensions arrears owed by the previous government to the pensioners.

The Solidarity rally which was attended by huge crowd of pensioners in the State to show their gratitude to Governor Makinde for his kindness and humanity.
