The Wife of Oyo state Governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde has encouraged girls child to dream big, work hard, and avoid distractions such as social media, drugs, and peer pressure.
She stated this stated this while commemorating and celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child and theme is “Your Vision and Dreams for the Future are Valued and Achievable” with a call to action for girls to have a clear vision for their future.
Mrs Makinde emphasized the importance of vision in achieving success, urging girls to stay focused on their education.
She stressed the that the cornersy of a bright future lies in the vision and aspirations of girls themselves. “You are the authors of your vision, dreams, and future, ” She emphasized.
Mrs Makinde emphasized that girls are not just leaders of tomorrow but today’s leaders, deserving every opportunity to thrive.
She urged teachers, mentors, and parents to guide and encourage girls to believe in themselves
Mrs Makinde commended the state government led by His Excellency Engr. Oluwaseyi Makinde and other stakeholders for their constant support to her office.
She called on everyone to recommit to working together to create a future where every girl can realize their vision.
“The decision you make for your vision today sets and shapes your future, ” She concluded.
In her remark, Facilitator from the Ministry of Women affairs and Social Inclusion Mrs Celestina Adediran urged girls to set a goal that is attainable nothing that they need to understand their strength, their passion in order to actualize their vision in future.
She encouraged them to be well educated saying that education would not make the girls child yo be inferior to their contemporary and help them to be creative and innovative.
As part of the celebration, the top three girls with the best results in the 2023 and 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate Education (SSCE) received Laptop computers to recognize their exceptional dedication and hard work.
While speak with one of the Student, Akinleye Fatima one of the best students in 2023,from Oyo state College of Science, Elekuro, Ibadan extended her appreciation to her Excellency, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde for the gift and care for female folk in the state noting that the gift would spur her to build a better future for herself and be a good ambassador for the state.
She urged all other girls to be diligent for them to build a better future for themselves and not to relent in their efforts to achieve greatness saying that there is reward for for hard work.
The Oyo state government has demonstrated its commitment to education with 20 per cent budgetary allocation every year which aims to improve educational infrastructure, provide adequate resources, and promote quality education.
