The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has empowered over 200 farmers with 10 acres of land to farm, ensuring food security in Ibadan North Local Government and the state.
The empowerment program, organized by Ibadan North Local Government in partnership with the Nigerian Women for Agricultural Progressive and Development Initiative (NWAPDI), was held at Ibadan North Town Hall, Agodi, Ibadan.
Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade expressed that despite being in an urban area, the local government is committed to creating an enabling environment for farmers, ensuring food security.
He announced plans to build a food bank in the next few weeks, which would be accessible to everyone beyond Ibadan North Local Government.
Hon. Olufade charged farmers to utilize the land judiciously to guarantee food security in Ibadan North and Oyo State.
The National Coordinator of NWAPDI, Mrs. Omolara Svensson, praised the partnership, bridging the gap between government and portfolio farmers, benefiting real farmers.
Mrs. Ruth Michael, a beneficiary, expressed her gratitude to Hon. Olufade for empowering farmers and called for more government support.
