The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed over 1,750 bags of rice to women, widows, and vulnerable individuals in Oyo State to alleviate the effects of fuel subsidy removal and high cost of living.

The distribution was done through the “Renewed Hope Initiatives” Oyo State chapter, chaired by Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, wife of the Oyo State governor.

Mrs.Makinde who represented Mrs.Tinubu at the event, which held at the First Lady’s office, Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Speaking on behalf of Mrs. Tinubu, Mrs. Makinde emphasized the importance of distributing foodstuffs to cushion the high cost of living within families.

She noted that when women are empowered, the whole family benefits, and the distribution of foodstuffs and other support will continue to ensure that the effects of economic hardship are minimized.

Mrs. Tinubu stated that the distribution of foodstuffs to women is not limited to any political party but is aimed at alleviating hunger across the state.

She acknowledged that economic crises are a global phenomenon affecting all countries, and Nigeria is not an exception.

The wife of the Oyo State governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, also added cash gifts to the rice given to the beneficiaries to help sustain them for a while.

Mrs. Makinde urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support and pray for the country’s leaders to make wise decisions.

She also commended Mrs. Tinubu for her kindness and generosity towards the people of Oyo State.

The distribution of foodstuffs is part of Mrs. Tinubu’s efforts to support vulnerable individuals and families across the country.

The “Renewed Hope Initiatives” aims to provide succor to those in need and promote economic empowerment among women.

The beneficiaries included widows’ groups, orphanage homes, Association of Women Pentecostal Church, NASFAT, FOMWAN, and the wives of the 33 local government council chairmen.

The event was attended by various stakeholders, including religious leaders, community leaders, and representatives of the beneficiaries.
