OYRTMA Gets Boost as Makinde Approves Hazard Allowance, Inaugurates Marshals

…As OYRTMA capacity strengthened with 500 new recruits

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved a hazard allowance for all Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) staff to boost their morale and commitment to maintaining road safety, and contributing to the overall safety and well-being of the people of the state.

The approval was made by Governor Makinde during the passing-out parade of 500 newly recruited OYRTMA officers and men, as well as the inauguration of OYRTMA Marshals, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iseyin.

Governor Makinde stated that the recruitment of 500 new OYRTMA officers and men aims to strengthen the capacity of OYRTMA, noting that a strengthened agency will lead to a stronger enforcement of traffic rules and laws.

He emphasized the need to sensitize the public on traffic laws and enforce them effectively.

Governor Makinde implored the newly recruited OYRTMA officers and men to serve with integrity and not use their positions for personal gain or to act unjustly.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of OYRTMA, Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd), had requested Governor Makinde to implement a hazard allowance for all OYRTMA staff to boost their morale and commitment to maintaining road safety, thereby significantly contributing to the overall safety and well-being of the people of the state.

He said that the recruitment process rigorous and designed to ensure that only the most qualified and capable individuals joined the agency.

Major Adesagba added that the training included daily physical exercises, basic traffic management principles, crash investigation techniques, Nigerian Highway code, Road Traffic Crash rescue operations and other principles.

During the event, Governor Makinde inaugurated 50 Marshals to ensure the smooth operation of road traffic in the state. The hazard allowance will take effect from August.
