2024 Cultural Week: CCII Honors Makinde’s Ally, Chief Benedict Akiika With ‘Most Outstanding Friend of Ibadanland’Award

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has confered ‘Most Outstanding Friend of Ibadanland'(MOFI) award on an ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, Chief Benedict Akiika

The award ceremony was part of the activities for the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Week organized by CCII.

Speaking after receiving the award, a Chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Akika, a close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, expressed his excitement and gratitude upon receiving the award.

He attributed the award to his service to humanity, saying it was a recognition of his contributions to the peace, progress, and development of Ibadan land.

Despite not being an Ibadan indigene, Akika was humbled by the recognition and promised to continue giving back to society.

He vowed to alleviate the suffering of the masses and make a positive impact on the community.

In his remark, the Speakerof Oyo state Houseof Assembly, Rt Hon. Debo Ogundoyin praised Akika’s tremendous contributions to Ibadan’s development.

Ogundoyin urged well-meaning Nigerians to emulate Akika’s selfless service, saying it would make Ibadan, Oyo, and Nigeria better.

Earlier in his remark, The CCII President-General Barr. Ajeniyi Ajewole explained that the awards aimed to recognize and celebrate outstanding Ibadan indigenes.

Ajewole stated that the awards would promote Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage and inspire young people to strive for excellence.

The awards ceremony was part of CCII’s efforts to honor Ibadan sons and daughters who have excelled in various fields.

Other awardees included Alhaja Kudirat Owoola, Engr. Maj. Rasak Salau, Prof. Isiaka Kolawole, and Prof. Remi Raji, among others.

The awardees were recognized for their significant contributions to business, education, healthcare, entertainment, and other fields.

The 2024 Ibadan Cultural Week was a celebration of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage and a showcase of the city’s progress and development.
