Women Empowerment Programme: Mrs Makinde Empowers 55 Women with Tailoring Skills and N150,000 Start-up Capital

Oyo State government has trained over Fifty-Five women in the state on tailoring and given them a start-up capital of One hundred and Fifty thousand naira.

This gesture is to eradicate the rate of unemployment and reduce the poverty rate in the society.

The empowerment programme which was organized by the First of Oyo state, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde in Collaboration with Omituntun For Life initiative was held at Western Hall, Oyo state house of Assembly Complex, Ibadan.

In her address, the first lady of Oyo state, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde said her core vision was for vulnerable women in the state to be financially independent.

She encouraged all the beneficiaries to keep learning and upgrading the skills they have learned in the past two half weeks for them to be a better version of themselves.

In her address, the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni urged all the beneficiaries to cherish the skills they have gained and utilize the equipment given them wisely and remain focused on being independent.

She admonished the beneficiaries not to sell the equipment given to them and endeavor to continue practicing what they have learned.

At the end of the event, each beneficiaries was given One sewing machine with One hundred and Fifty thousand naira as start-up capital.
