Return to Regionalism Key to Nigeria’s Development- Dr. Victor Taiwo
Nigerian leaders have been tasked to give room for true regionalism and economy diversity for better development.
The call was made today at a symposium chaired by former president Jonathan Ebele Jonathan held at the House of Chiefs, Secreatriat,Ibadan.
Speaking the founder of New Nigeria Movement ,Dr. Victor Taiwo noted that the country has relied for so long on oil, making less competitive as the UK, USA, Portugal,France, who are less endowed with oil, but have embraced economy diversity thereby positioning them well in the world, saying return to regionalism will foster development.
Dr. Taiwo stressed that there is a need for the present led administration under Bola Ahmed Tinubu to adopt the 2014 CONFAB Report for good democracies and discovery of regional potentials.
In his reaction, retired justice of the Court of Appeal, Professor Justice Adekunle Owoade reiterated the need for regionalism which will mandate quota contribution to the centre, creation of states should not be a priority.
Meanwhile, the Baale Ekotedo, Chief Dr. Taiwo Ayorinde called president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure there a sincere local government autonomy, while chieftaincy matter be protected.
