Conference of Speakers Chairman, Ogundoyin Meets Plateau Governor, Mutfwang, Advances His Campaign For Effective State Legislatures
As part of his nationwide campaign to enhance legislative institution at the State level, the Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin on Friday in Jos held a fruitful meeting with the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang.
Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin said the meeting provided opportunity for him to advance his campaign for robust State legislative institutions across the country.
In his words “My meeting with His Excellency, Barr, Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang in Jos, Plateau State gave me the chance to discuss the agenda of the leadership of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures with him. The discussion focused on strengthening collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature in order to improve governance and democracy in the country. I emphasized the importance of capacity building, provision of adequate resources and infrastructure among others for State lawmakers to enable them perform optimally and excellently. I am happy that His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang was positive in his response as he pledged to support all efforts aimed at boosting and enhancing the activities and functions of my colleagues in Plateau State “
He added that the Governor’s response was a pointer to the fact that the Executive arm is ready to give necessary support to State Legislatures to make them function constitutionally and effectively.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin attended the 10th anniversary of the Catholic Diocese, Pankshin in Plateau State.
This was at the instance of the Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Gabriel Dewan.
In his remarks, Conference Chairman, Ogundoyin congratulated the Pioneer Bishop of Pankshin Diocese, Most Reverend Michael Goba Gokum for the transformative feats recorded by the church in the last 10years.
He charged well meaning Nigerians not to relent in supporting and championing the development of Houses of God.
