Tinubu Pledges Support for Oyo State’s Agricultural Revolution

…As Makinde lauded for collaborative partnership with FG on Infrastructure Development

…As 76.67km Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Highway Commissioned in Oyo State

President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, pledged to support the agricultural and development revolution being carried by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

Tinubu made the pledge while speaking at the commissioning of the 76.67 KM Adebayo Alao-Akala Memorial Expressway , linking Ogbomoso with Oke-Ogun zone of Oyo State.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President lauded Governor Makinde for his drive for huge investment on capital projects.

The commissioning, which took place at the Randa area of Ogbomoso, was witnessed by the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Umar Damagum; Mutiat Ladoja, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; Governor Abdulraman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Chief Niyi Akintola, Amb. Oladejo Arapaja, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Laoye Afolabi, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao and many monarchs and a host of prominent personalities.

Tinubu said infrastructure remained the gateway to the nation’s development, adding that by linking neighbouring zones, jobs would be created and agricultural value chain would increase.

According to the President, grassroots involvement in democratic development should not be overemphasised.

He said the Federal Government would support Makinde’s agricultural revolution and agro-allied development.

“Without a good network of roads the government could not fulfil its promise and develop democracy. Oyo State held a pivotal role in the nation’s economy.

“The governor engendered a legacy for a greater future, through inclusivity and modest leadership.

“The Federal Government would support Oyo State in agro-industrial mechanism”, he said.

While speaking Governor Makinde said he would not shift away from interconnectivity plan made back in 2019 for development across the state to reduce infrastructure deficit and move the state from poverty to prosperity. He called on local and foreign enterprises to see the state as an investment destination.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof. Keninde Sangodoyin, said Makinde’s vision of connecting all regions on the state was being fulfilled.

Also speaking, a former Military Administrator, Gen. Oladayo Popoola (rtd), said Makinde’s strides had turned around the socioeconomic fortune of the state.

Also speaking, Senator Saka Balogun lauded the governor for the road.

In his remarks, the scion of Alao-Akala and member of the House of Representatives, Olamiju Alao-Akala, said he was excited that the Governor named the road after his father.

The wife Adebayo Alao-Akala, Kemi, lauded Makinde for not forgetting her husband.
