2024 World Health Day: Oyo government charges residents on human rights to health matters.
Oyo state government has charged its citizens to prioritize their access to physical and mental health as part of their human right demands and take advantage of the robust policies of the current administration to enjoy healthy living.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi who stated this at an event organised to Commemorate the World Health Day, held at the Ministry’s car park, noted that health is an individual human right regardless of race, gender, socio-economic status, or geographical location.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “My Health, My Right”, Dr. Ajetunmobi explained that it has become imperative to ensure that every individual enjoys the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health with access to healthcare services, making informed choices about lifestyle behaviours, or advocating for policies that promote health equity.
She enjoined people to recommit themselves to the pursuit of health equity and social justice and work tirelessly to dismantle the barriers that prevent individuals from exercising their right to health.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Oyo state Coordinator, World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Zorto Philip and the Permanent Secretary, Oyo state Hospital Management Board, Dr Anifat Ibrahim charged people to be health conscious, ensure regular medical check up, avoid self medication, maintain safety and hygiene environment and always be ambassadors of good health.
