Makinde budgets N434.2bn for 2024 fiscal year

The Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has proposed sum of Four hundred and thirty-four billion, two hundred and twenty-one million, seven hundred and sixty-five thousand, nine hundred and thirty-eight naira, seventy-nine kobo, (434,221,765,938,79) as the pace setter state’s 2024 budget.

The budget proposal tagged “Economy Recovery” was presented today at the special seating of the 10th Oyo State house of Assembly, parliament building, Secretariat, Ibadan.

The budget which is one hundred and twenty four billion higher than the outgoing year budget, allocated 20.8%, which is the highest, to Education sector.

While breaking down the budget, Governor Makinde said Infrastructure gulped 17. 11%, Health has 9.44% while 3.65% were allocated to Agriculture, adding that the target is to address the economy challenges of the state in 2024 through infrastructures.

In his remark, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, assured Governor Makinde, quick consideration to the budget for the benefit of the people of the pace setter state.

He lauded Governor Makinde, for his efforts since May 2019 to grow the internal generated revenue of the state without increasing the tax, adding that the assembly would not relent in its constitutional duty in achieving a transparent, accountable, and prudent government.

Present at the event, National deputy-chairman, peoples democratic party, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, SSG Olanike Adeyemo, Chief Judge of Oyo State, Iyabo Yerima, top government functionaries, notable traditional rulers and religious leaders in the states.
